Dear St. Patrick families,

There will not be a parent bulletin next week. I will be traveling with the 7th and 8th grade to Niagara Falls on Thursday and Friday.

Just a reminder that the Home and School Association meeting has been changed to Thursday, Sept. 28th, at 6:30 PM in the church basement.

Picture Day is Tuesday, Sept. 19th. This is a dress up day, not a dress down day. Jeans and sweats are not appropriate dress for school pictures. Ordering information has been sent home.

Our next dress down day is Friday, Sept. 29th. The cost is fifty cents for all students.

I am very happy to welcome back Mrs. Shaw to the faculty for this school year. Mrs. Shaw will be teaching middle school science and 6th grade religion.

It is once again time for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. This is open to any of our middle school students who may have participated in a volunteer activity after Sept. 1, 2016. I have included an informational sheet regarding this award.

The 7th and 8th grade mum sale will be taking place this weekend, Sept. 16th  and 17th. This fund-raiser helps the students with the cost for the Niagara Falls and Washington D. C. trips they will be taking this year. If you preordered mums, the pickup will be Saturday from 4 to 7 PM in the school gym. We will also have extra mums that can be purchased at this time. The students will also be selling flowers after all weekend Masses – Saturday at 5 PM and Sunday at 8:30 and 11 AM. If you have not preordered mums, please consider stopping by and purchasing some. The 7th and 8th grade thank you for your support.

I would like to introduce to everyone one of our newest staff members, Mr. David Miles. He will be serving as our school psychologist for this school year. He has practiced as a school psychologist for the past 33 years, retiring from Cuyahoga Falls City Schools in 2014 after serving there for 26 years. He is a graduate of Kent State’s psychology program and is nationally certified as a school psychologist and licensed by both the Ohio Dept. of Education and the State of Ohio Board of Psychology. He is skilled in providing assessments of intellectual, academic and social/emotional abilities, providing brief solution-based counseling for students, consulting with our parents and the St. Patrick staff on student learning, social and emotional needs, and monitoring student achievement and progress. He will be leading the development of a Response to Intervention (RtI) program in the school to assist in providing evidence-based intervention to meet the academic and/or behavioral needs of all students, including assisting teachers in collection of data on areas of concern and monitoring student progress towards these goals. He is available on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please feel free to contact him at school if he can be of assistance to you and your children. I am very pleased that we have been able to add someone with Mr. Miles’ background and expertise.

Basketball open gyms have started this week. They are on Monday from 7 to 8 PM for grades 3 to 5 and on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8 PM for grades 6 to 8. These will run through October.

Cheerleading practice will be Monday and Wednesday from 5:15 to 7 PM in the gym. This is for students in grades 3 to 8. Spirit shirts are on sale in the office. There are limited quantities and sizes. More are on order. The cost is $10 and will benefit the Booster Club. These shirts may be worn on Friday with uniform bottoms. Please make checks payable to the St. Patrick Boosters.

Looking into the not too distant future, our fall open house, book fair and rigatoni dinner will be taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 4th. Be sure to mark that date on your calendar.
