Dear St. Patrick families,

There will not be a bulletin next week. I will be attending the principals’ retreat at Geneva on the Lake.

School is not in session on Monday, Oct. 30th. That is a scheduled in-service day for the teachers.

Next week is Red Ribbon week. An informational sheet of the week’s events has been sent home today.

Tuesday is a fifty cent dress down day for all students.

Wednesday is All Saints’ Day. That is a holy day of obligation. The primary students will be attending Mass at 9 AM and the middle school will attend Mass at 12:10 PM.

Our parent – teacher conference evening is Thursday, Nov. 2nd. Conferences will run from 3 to 8 PM. Please do not park behind the school before 5 PM. Latchkey is usually outside at this time.

Tuesday evening is the traditional Halloween for many of our students in their home communities. Please use caution and good sense that evening. We would like all of our students to enjoy their evening and return safe and sound to school on Wednesday morning.

Our school nurse, Mrs. Rock, has sent home notices to some of our families regarding immunizations that are either still needed or paperwork to show proof that they have been previously administered. Failure to do so will present the risk of a student not being permitted to attend school until the matter is resolved. Please take care of this matter immediately so that a particular student’s regular school attendance is not interrupted.

Please return your Veterans’ Day Wall of Honor information to Miss Jones by Oct. 31st. Even if your veteran is unable to attend the Veterans’ Day Mass, we would still love to honor them at the school.

Our deadline for candy money is long past. If you still have any candy money out, please turn it in now.

We have a number of brand new white polo shirts and khaki and navy shorts and pants, and khaki and navy skorts. These are in youth sizes small, medium, large and ex-large. These are top quality items. We are selling them all for $5 apiece. Now would be a great time to get brand new shorts for the spring. You may call the office for more information.

On Monday, Oct. 30th, our Home and School Association will be sponsoring a “Dine and Donate” at Belleria Pizza. You may dine in, carry out or order delivery, and 10% of your bill will go directly to help fund the many important functions that the Home and School supports. Make sure to mention St. Patrick School when you order.

As you may have read, there was a very sad and unfortunate accident that claimed the life of a kindergarten student at St. Francis deSales School in Akron. This occurred during the drop off time in the morning. As I have cautioned before and I will caution again, you need to be careful when dropping off and picking up your children before and after school. It is very dangerous for all concerned when a car that is parked against the building backs out. Be sure if you are not in the car line that you walk down and escort your child back to your parked vehicle. Also, to help alleviate some of the traffic back up on Depeyster, I would ask that you pull around the church and then proceed into the alley behind the school. This will keep cars from backing up on Depeyster, creating a small traffic jam. Last week I saw two cars pull around, passing those cars that were waiting who were not our parents. This certainly will help that situation. We talked last year about parking behind the church, but inclement weather conditions would just make this more problematic. So, let’s try this new traffic pattern and see how it works after school.
