Dear St. Patrick families,
We would like to thank the staff, students, families, and especially the volunteers, for making our Book Fair a success. Together we were able to raise over $1,100 for our school library while encouraging the skill that is most vital to success – reading! We would also like to acknowledge the winners of the Candy Guessing Game – kindergarten, Frankie Cash; First grade, Alex Grant; second grade, Patrick Warczak; third grade, Peyton Barr-White; fourth grade, Michael Shannon; fifth grade, Noah Hier; sixth grade, Ryan Golubski; seventh grade, Joey Stephan; eighth grade, Jacob Davis.
We are now collecting Acme receipts. You may send them to the school office. Wednesday, Oct. 26th, is a fiftycent dress down day for all students. Friday, Oct. 28th, ends the first grading period. Report cards will be distributed on Friday, Nov. 4th.
Our annual Halloween parade and classroom celebrations will begin on Friday, Oct. 28th, at 1:15 PM. Permission slips have been sent home to participate in the parade. If you are assisting in classroom parties, you must have completed a background check with fingerprints and completed the Treasured Gifts program offered by the Diocese. St. Patrick Church will be offering a child protection class on Nov. 11th. I again ask that the students’ costumes reflect good taste and not be violent in nature. Weapons, blood and gore should not be part of the costume. If masks are worn, they should not restrict a student’s vision.
School will not be in session on Monday, Oct. 31st. This will be an inservice day as we prepare for our school accreditation in February. Tuesday, Nov. 1st, is All Saints’ Day, which is a Holy Day of Obligation. The primary grades will attend Mass at 9 AM, the middle school will attend Mass at 12:10 PM.
Our first Home and School meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2nd, at 6 PM. The meeting will be held in the church basement.
Picture retakes are scheduled for Nov. 3rd. If you need to have a retake done, you must bring your original photo pack with you. This is also for any student who was absent on the previous picture day. Our parent – teacher conference week begins Nov. 7th. Our evening conferences will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 9th, from 3 to 8 PM. Please do not park in the playground because Latchkey goes outside after school. Also, please do not leave your child(ren) outside while you are in a conference if Latchkey is out.
Latchkey cannot be responsible for anyone not under their supervision. The Home and School Association is sponsoring a donation drive for the weekend of November 12th and 13th. Clothing and household items, such as small appliances, kitchenware and kids’ games will be accepted. Exact drop off times and further details will be sent home next week. As the weather begins to change be sure your child is dressed for the colder weather. Too often I see students who are wearing light jacket sat recess time when a heavier coat and maybe gloves, might be more appropriate.
We will continue to go outside for lunch recess as long as weather permits. As you are looking ahead to make any long range plans, school is not in session on Nov. 23rd, 24th and 25th. That is our Thanksgiving break. In celebration of the Cleveland Indians’ in the World Series, we will celebrate Indians’ Day on Tuesday.
Students may wear their favorite Indians’ apparel with their uniform slacks or skirts. Red or blue tops may be worn if you do not have any Indians’ apparel. No other teams or colors will be permitted.
