Dear St. Patrick families,
Next week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools’ Week. Our students will be taking part in the 11 AM Mass, and our school Open House will follow from 12 to 2 PM. Any family that recommends a family to us and they enroll, that family will receive a $100 tuition credit. A list of the week’s events was sent home last week. One event that was omitted is the presentation by Mad Science on Wednesday at 10 AM in the gym. Wednesday will also be “Crazy Hat Day”. Our Hoops for Heart/Jump-a-thon was moved to Thursday. Only those students participating may dress down. Bishop Murry will be celebrating Mass for the school on Friday at 8:30 AM, after which he will be visiting the school. Please join us next week.
Registration for the Edchoice progam begins Feb. 1st. Information and applications are available in the office and also online at the Ohio Dept. of Education. We will be happy to assist you in filling out these applications.
The Wolsonovich / Cushwa Scholarship is now accepting applications. That paperwork is available in the office.
The Home and School Association will be sponsoring a family skate night at the Kent State Ice Arena on Sunday, Feb. 18th, from 5:10 to 7:10 PM. That evening we will have the rink reserved just for St. Patrick families and friends. The cost of admission and skate rental is $8 per skater. Tickets may be purchased at the door the evening of the event.
It is time again for our 7th grade sponsored “Singing Valentines”. Proceeds will be used to purchase 8th grade graduation gifts, with the proceeds going to next year’s 8th grade fund. Order forms will be sent home today. Sales are open to parents and students for six days only starting Monday, Jan. 30th through Monday, Feb. 6th. The cost is forty cents each or three for a dollar. Donations are also accepted. Orders may be sent to the homeroom teachers and checks made payable to St. Patrick.
We will be kicking off our Read to Succeed Program on Monday. This is our 10th year. This is for grades K to 8. Students will be receiving colored slips of paper that they will fill out and return to their teachers or Mrs. Colgrove in the library for each book they read. This program will last for eleven weeks and will end at the beginning of Right to Read Week April 16th to the 20th. The goal is to read one more book than the previous year, which will be 1,329 books this year. Get ready to READ TO SUCCEED!!
